Josh Smith

Josh Smith is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Anew Climate, where he leads the company's legal team and serves as Board Secretary. He is a seasoned legal and business executive with more than 20 years of experience advising energy and industrial companies on complex commercial, corporate, compliance, regulatory, and risk matters.

Josh began his career at McDonald Hopkins, LLC before moving in-house, spending more than a decade at Schlumberger Technology Corporation (SLB) supporting global operations, joint ventures, and strategic transactions across international markets.

Most recently, Josh served as General Counsel of Newpark Drilling Fluids, where he led the legal, compliance, risk, and corporate governance functions through the company's separation from Newpark Resources and its transition to private-equity ownership. He advised the executive team and Board of Directors on commercial transactions, litigation, regulatory matters, and international operations.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton and a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is based in Houston, Texas.
