Value Chain Intervention

Why it matters
Your footprint reaches well beyond your own operations. It’s in the crops your suppliers grow and the steel and concrete you build with. For most companies, Scope 3 can account for upwards of 90% of their total footprint, and it’s the hardest part to influence directly.
Value Chain Intervention, sometimes called insetting, directs climate finance to the commodities and activities behind those emissions. That can mean funding lower-carbon practices among the producers in your sourcing regions, or purchasing Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) tied to reductions in the same commodities you buy, such as cement and steel.

Why value chain intervention
Every program we build is designed to stand up to review by auditors, target validators, and your own customers.

Matched to your supply chain
No two footprints are alike. We build a portfolio of interventions and EACs around the commodities and sourcing regions associated with your emissions.
Credible by design
Reductions are quantified under published methodologies, verified by independent third parties, and issued and retired on a registry. Contracts set out who holds each claim, so the same tonne is never counted twice.
Finances new supply
Multi-year offtake and floor-price contracts give producers the revenue certainty they need to finance new lower-carbon capacity.
Stronger supply chains
Many interventions do more than cut emissions. They support more resilient farms and a more secure supply of lower-carbon materials for the products your business relies on.

The standards are catching up
Standards and accounting frameworks are evolving to give companies more ways to support decarbonization within the value chains they depend on, including through market-based instruments such as EACs. How different approaches are accounted for and claimed continues to develop. Anew helps clients understand the solutions available today while staying adaptable as guidance evolves.

Why Anew Climate
For more than 20 years, Anew Climate has developed and commercialized emission reduction and removal projects across agriculture, forestry, industry, energy, and transportation. We work on both sides of the transaction: with producers to bring new environmental attributes to market, and with corporate buyers to source them. That reach lets us build a portfolio around your supply chain instead of steering you to a single product.
